"For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ."
Galatians 1:10
I love when the Lord just speaks to my life. I, like Paul, have been caught up in 'people-pleasing'. I am reminded that it simply cannot be done! You cannot people please and serve Christ at the same time.
Today, I made a beautiful exchange: I sought to please God instead of man. I smiled more, I gave God my burdens, worshiped & took time to pause. Joy filled me up, in a way I cannot explain. I haven't been feeling well physically, so this was huge. God was pleased with me.

Are you seeking to please God?

India + Giveaway winner

posted on: 11.29.2011

If there's a nation close to my heart it's India. This country, for some unexplainable reason, has been in my heart since I was a child. I haven't had the privilege of traveling to India but my guy does. This is why I'm opening sponsorship on my blog.

He will be going with a group that's partnering with Calcutta Mercy ministries on May 6, 2012.
They will be doing the following:
  • Teaching in a village school
  • Praying over patients in hospital
  • helping with a feeding program
  • visiting and praying with people in the slums
  • worship
  • teaching Sunday school
  • volunteering at Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity
What you can do:
  1. Keep them in your prayers, as they collect sponsoring and prepare for their trip.
  2. Donate. A button will be up in the next few days for donations.
  3. Consider sponsoring Prettyladysmiles.com; your money will have a tremendous impact on the lives of people who desperately need the redemptive touch of Jesus. You will also receive exposure to your blog as a token for your kindness. We are blessed to be a blessing. May you reap what you sow.

Here's our giveaway winner:

Congrats Betsy! Email me your address info to receive your earrings.
Thanks to everyone who participated. There will be a giveaway in the month of December :)

Celebrating another monthaversary

Once upon a Wednesday and a giveaway!

posted on: 8.25.2010

It was an ordinary day. I sat down at my desk, and I thought of things to do. Through my window I could see gray clouds coming. Shortly after, it was raining. I decided to catch up with my followers, discover new blogs and finish some crafts I hadn't finished. September is coming soon, and I want to celebrate this blog's 2-year anniversary with a giveaway!

On Monday, I went to the grand opening of a dollar tree store that is 2 minutes away from where I live. It's huge! I bought some tea lights, ribbons and some glass cups. I had a project in mind.
Yesterday, I went to Publix in the middle of the rain to buy some flowers to add to my project. I also figured that if the sky wouldn't smile at me, then I should find something that will. I came back home and I made 2 flower arrangements for two special people who seem to always bless me. Then I took the extra flowers left and put it on my improvised vase. It certainly helped me think of good things. I made the pretty bows to accent my desk. I also wrote letters to go with each gift.

However, after all that, I was still feeling crafty. The result was: paper cranes.

I am mastering the art of making paper cranes. I cut a 6.5in x 6.5in of paper and I decorate it with words and colors. I also made some with post-its!
