'Puertorican' French Toast Recipe

"Light, refined, learned and noble, harmonious and orderly, clear and logical, the cooking of France is, in some strange manner, intimately linked to the genius of her greatest men."
-Rouff Marcel

When I visited Paris, back in 2008, I fell in love with the small bakery stores that decorated the streets. You could pass by and the air was filled with the smell of fresh bread and coffee. You could see people in their bicycles bring the deli goods from the streets to their cozy houses.
I wanted to capture Paris in some edible form so, I decided to make french toast with a twist. Thus, my Puertorican French Toast recipe was born. The only PRican part of the whole recipe is the bread, but it adds such a taste! You have to try it.
Ingredients (serving for one person):
-1/2 Milk
-1 egg
-butter
-Puertorican bread (4 slices)
-Ground Cinnamon
-Fruit of choice (in this case: 1 strawberry)
-Maple syrup
*[If you wish to serve more, all you have to do is double the portions. For two people it will be 1 cup of milk, 2 eggs, etc...]

Preparation:
Whip the egg, milk and cinnamon until the egg yolk is completely mixed. Cut 4 slices from the bread roll. You can find this bread in your local walmart or food store. If not, feel free to use any bread of your choice (*Note: if you use regular bread, you will only need 2 slices).
Butter a pan and heat it (I usually put it in mid-heat). Dip the bread in the mix on both sides and put on pan. Flip until both sides are semi-tan like the picture below. Repeat until all slices are cooked.

Put them on a plate. Take the fruit of choice and put it over as a topping. I may add whip cream but I didn't have any to put today. Be creative and explore your topping choices. Serve with syrup, vitamins & orange juice for a healthy meal to start your day.

Enjoy!

[Feel free to give me feedback if you tried this recipe, I'd love to know how you enjoyed it and if you have suggestions, I'll be glad to write them down.]
