Silence, solitude and a cup of tea

When was the last time I had a cup of tea? I can't believe I don't remember! I think it was a week ago. Tsk, tsk. I'm thankful for having time today to enjoy one. I had a wonderful Christmas day. I received much more than what I asked, and I'm humbled by the thoughtfulness of many. In my morning devotional I found a list of principles that could be reviewed in our daily time of silence and solitude:
  • Aim, above all else, at loving God.
  • Make a wholehearted surrender of your life to God.
  • Believe that He takes your word.
  • Do not be surprised at the opposition of the adversary.
  • Pray, making your requests known to God.
  • Watch.
  • Expect Him to give you what He knows is best for you.
  • Receive His answer for today.
  • Trust His timing.
  • Obey God in the lest thing shown.
  • Commit your uncertainties and fears to Him.
  • Act on principle, not impulse; will, not emotion.
  • Accept the demands of your masculinity or femininity.
  • Remember that to take up the cross means suffering.
  • Do not walk into temptation. Flee.
  • Make a commitment to be not merely careful, but chaste.
  • Keep your hands off and your clothes on (this is great advice when dating).
  • Confide in and seek help from an older Christian.
  • Be grateful for your assigned portion (Psalm 16:5).
  • Praise and sing to the Lord. Thank Him for everything.
  • Keep a quiet heart.
Give the list a try and see His reward for your faithfulness. May your soul cling to the Lord and hope in Him.
