Psalm 37

Trust in the LORD and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart's desires. Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and he will help you. Psalm 37:3-5
Lately, this psalm has become my close friend. It tells me to trust God, not just with a wishful optimism, but with a strong reliance on He who is good. To take delight in Him, for in due time, He will give me my heart's desires (or not, if they are rooted in the things that do not please God). And then, it tells me to give the matter entirely to the Lord. Huh. I guess He knows I'm prone to carry my own burdens.

So I read, meditate, and apply this. Then I repeat, because by the time I'm done with this psalm, I've realized I'm carrying my burdens once again. *Sighs*.

Thank You, Lord, for reminding me that I can trust you with every little thing, and that when I find myself carrying my burdens just right after I had left them on the cross, thank you that I can cast my cares (once again) at Your feet.

It is God's will that I should cast
On HIm my care each day.
He also bids me not to cast
My confidence away.
But oh, I am so foolish
That when taken unawares,I cast away my confidence
And carry all my cares.

  1. Thank you for reminding me. I'm also struggling with trust and letting go on a daily basis...

  3. All too often we try to pick burdens back up when God wants us to lay them down... and keep them there at His feet.
